Why don’t the clouds move at 1,000 MPH?

Since the earth rotates one time in a single day, and the earth is approximately 25,000 miles in circumference, it seems that we should be moving at a speed of 1,000 MPH if we were on the equator.

Why wouldn’t the clouds move somewhere of the vincinty of 1,000 MPH? Does the atmosphere rotate with the Earth? At that high speed?

What is stopping us from experiencing 1,000 MPH winds each and every day?
